I was looking for someone able to help me with my problem. It seems it is the only place in internet I can hope to find it. I have problem with resolution on my screen.

I have recently bought HP w2007v and tried to connect it to my sony Vaio (vgn-n38e) with intel 945GM Chipset. For some reason image is blurred - it is not the matter of setting resolution - I can pick 1680x1050 @ 60Hz. Windows shows as if I was displaying that resolution, however when I check on monitor OSD - it says 1400x900 @ 60Hz. (I checked myself and 1680x1050 fits exactly on my screen). Monitor was checked with other laptops and only mine has problem with it so at least I know it is smth. With laptop I tried the trick with DTD setting in inf file (i don't think that applies in my case, but just for experiment) but it didn't help.

Other thing is I cant install latest drivers - when I download them they say - i have to look for ones from my computer manufacturer. So I have to stick to version 7. Maybe latest ones fix this problem, but sony support doesn't have them. Pretty sure the 'blurriness' at 1680x1050 is due toa panel fitting bug which was supposedly fixed on one of the 15.7.x releases, but if you're dealing with an older driver there could be problems in that case.

My suggestion is to try to get Sony to upgrade their drivers to something more modern. Other suggestion is to try the DTD trick with 1678x1050 (lower the third byte from 90 to 8E and raise the fourth byte by 2). I think the custom resolution is not subject to the panel-fitting bug, but that if you try to set a custom resolution of 1680x1050 you'll get contention between the driver's defaultand your customsetting andit's probable the default will take precedence. Hey, is this where the cool kids come looking for help? I've got a Dell Inspiron 6400 w/ an intel 945gm express that I'm trying to hook a Dell e288wfp 22'w/s monitor up to (native 1680x1050). Problem is it won't let me get any higher than 1024x768 on the monitor. The laptop monitor runs fine at 1280x800.

I've tried various different tricks that I've read online to get this working right. Including trying every compatible driver (windows xp). It's weird because this laptop and monitor used to belong to someone else in my office and it worked fine for them.

After they switched machines this machine was wiped and now it will no longer work. Moninfo won't give me an useful information on the monitor but it will give me all the EDID info from the built in display (the laptop display). I was able to get the CS-028366 patch installed on this Dell by skipping the setup.exe. As soon as I ran the exe and it automatically unzipped files into my temp directory I updated the driver manually through device manager pointing at the.inf in the temp directory. It installed and didn't give me any 'Use Dell Drivers or else' messages. Unfortunately, no dice. It still won't read the monitor or give me the option to run it any higher than 1024x768.

Also, when I first plug the monitor in. I can sometimes force the machine to go to a higher resolution (not 1680x1050 mind you. Closest I can get is 1400x1050) but the monitor creates a virtual resolution (i.e. It still displays at 1024x768 but it will slide the screen around for the full 1400x1050). This was happening before I installed the new 945gm driver. Hi Archibael, I found this forum and felt that my resolution problem can be resolved now.

I have a desktop with Intel 945G graphics adapter and 'Samsung SyncMaster 920NW' widescreen LCD monitor. Monitor's native resolution is 1440 X 900. But I am not able to set it because its not there in Display Properties. I am surprised to see that no EDID is being read from monitor. I checked with MonInfo and it returned the following data: MonInfo Data --------------------------------------------------------- Monitor Hardware information. N/a Windows description.

I read your 'Custom Resolution' page and found that the resolution issue can be fixed with Modeline even if EDID is not there.
