Tonight Ubisoft patched their Uplay Game Launcher with a brand new feature - offline mode. What this means to Silent Hunter 5 players is that we can finally play our single player game without being connected to the internet at all! Don't need to connect at first nor do we need to stay connected. Here's how: Start your game normally, you'll be greeted with the usual game launcher: Clicking on SETTINGS gets you this screen: Once you're turned OFF Save Games and turned ON Offline mode, click Apply. Now your launcher looks like this. Just click PLAY - even if you're off the internet - and enjoy Silent Hunter 5! As the warning says, Uplay features and online saved games will not be available while in this mode, but for Silent Hunter 5 that's not a big loss.
It has just taken me SEVEN HOURS so far to attempt to install SH5 on a new machine and I'm still messing around trying to get UPLAY to work AND I DON'T EVEN WANT THE BLOODY THING ANYWAY!!!! I have now got two user accounts on it and neither will allow me to sign in again.what a total waste of time it truly is!!! Ubisoft was streets ahead on its Sims but they have completely screwed themselves up with this in my opinion and I will not be buying another of their titles until they drop this UPLAY CRAP ENTIRELY!!!.what is wrong with just buying a game and choosing how and when to play for yourself? Why not just make it an optional install for those who want to be involved.but I'm guessing that would be around three people as the thing doesn't even work properly most of the time.UTTER GARBAGE!!!
